The Minnesota Vikings came to the rescue after a hacker stole season tickets from a lifelong fan.

Teresa Cahill talked with FOX 9 about her mom, Katy, who has been a fan of the Vikings ever since the team played at Met Stadium, she has also been a long time season ticket holder, and she got quite the shock when she logged into her account before the first preseason game.

When Katy went to get her tickets for last Saturday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders, she was shocked to discover that all her tickets were gone. It turns out a hacker broke into her account and transferred all the tickets to another account.

The Vikings quickly stepped in to help figure out what happened, the team and Ticketmaster suspended the fraud account that the season tickets were transferred to, but since the account was created with a fake name and contact info, they were unable to identify the thief. As far as the Vikings are aware, this is the only incident of this type to happen to a fan.

Teresa says that her mom never got any notifications that the tickets were transferred, implying that the hacker took steps to avoid being detected until well after they were transferred.

The Vikings told FOX 9 that the theft isn't related to the huge hack that happened to Ticketmaster earlier this year but rather an isolated incident. But the team urges fans to secure their accounts with strong passwords and activate two-factor authentication if possible.
