A couple of weeks ago watching a Minnesota Vikings game on TV, I had a thought about one of the lead broadcasters on the FOX team doing the game that day. The thought: "Boy, that guy's voice sounds an awful lot like someone else I know".

The broadcaster in question on the FOX broadcast is the network's new lead analyst and former NFL player Greg Olsen. While I had heard Olsen do a number of games, something stuck out this time, but I couldn't quite place it.

Olsen dabbled in broadcasting toward the end of his NFL career, doing a few games for FOX before joining them full-time after retiring in 2020. He joined Kevin Burkhardt in the booth in 2021, and that duo was elevated to the rank of the "A-team" for FOX's football games after the departure of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman for the 2022 season.

The former tight end made a solid transition to the booth, bringing some energy and knowledge from years in the league with him to the broadcasts he's been part of. But again, he sounds like someone I know...who? Then, it clicked.

Listen to some of his commentary in yesterday's game and think about it. It's a voice you've likely heard too.

To me, Greg Olsen sounds like none other than Duluth radio broadcaster Joe Danger. Heard on Duluth radio stations B105 and Sasquatch 92.1 weekdays, it's a voice you might have heard a time or two. In my opinion, a virtual vocal twin. Seriously, listen to a couple of breaks of Joe's from on the radio recently, and tell me otherwise.

Ok, so it might not be a perfect match, but it is REALLY close, isn't it?

Need some more Greg Olsen audio to listen to compare? Check out this "day-in-the-life" video from ahead of the broadcast he was part of for the Vikings-Packers matchup to kick off the 2022 season.

Pretty uncanny, isn't it? I think so, anyway.

I haven't talked to Joe about this prior to writing this piece, so I can't wait to see what his reaction is. But, it has to be a compliment, right? Olsen is an accomplished NFL player and is now a big-time broadcaster on the lead NFL team for FOX. I can't wait to see what he has to say.

Anyway, try watching a FOX football broadcast featuring Greg Olsen now and not thinking of Joe Danger.
