Upcoming Summer Cider Event In Duluth Canceled
Well, this is a real bummer for fans of adult ciders and barbecue food who were looking forward to this event.
A few weeks ago, I shared information about an event being hosted by the Minnesota Cider Guild in August being called "Cider & BBQ". The event, which was being held at Duluth's Wild State Cider, was scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, August 17.
The premise behind the event was much like many other sampling events, where visitors would get unlimited samples from beverage makers for a few hours.
The event was set to offer ciders from both Wild State and Duluth Cider on the local level, as well as ciders from other brewers in the state like Minneapolis Cider Co., Sapsucker Farms Yellow Belly Cider, Number 12 Cider, White Bear Meadery. Keepsake Cidery, Conosia Grove Cidery, and Sweetland Orchard.
Along with the sampling, food from barbecue food trucks Baptism River BBQ and Rollin Nolens BBQ were going to be on site along with live music from rising stars on the Minnesota music scene, Nur-D.
Why did the event get canceled?
Event organizers shared last week on their Facebook event page that the event (scheduled for just over a week from their cancelation announcement) would not be happening this year due to low ticket sales.
While this is disappointing news, the organizers do encourage everyone to pay their booth a visit at the Minnesota State Fair. They'll be in the Agriculture Horticulture building, hosting some events like "Ask the Cider Maker" and "How It's Made: Minnesota Cider" during the course of the fair.
