Modified Exhaust To Blame For Active Shooter Call At Wisconsin Walmart
A Wisconsin 911 call center received multiple phone calls of an active shooter last Thursday evening. Law enforcement from surrounding areas rushed to the scene in emergency mode.

According to the press release, the Barron County Communications Center received the 911 call of an active shooter near the Walmart in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
When officers arrived, there was no physical evidence to support that a shooting had taken place. The police began to search the area further.
Additional reports of gunshots being fired.
While the officers were searching the Walmart, more calls came in about gunshots being fired from a moving vehicle near the Rice Lake Middle School.
Witnesses describe shots from a black vehicle.
A short time later, more gunshots were reported near the T-Mobile store. They spotted the black vehicle northbound on West Avenue. Multiple officers stopped the vehicle and they detained two occupants from the vehicle.

The suspect's car was modified to cause intentional backfiring.
The suspect's car had been modified to intentionally backfire while accelerating. There were no firearms and no gunshots in any of the calls. However, the incident caused a major disruption for the community.
School events were canceled, businesses were put in lockdown, and dozens of law enforcement were involved.
Even though the incident turned out to be harmless, it was a major disruption for the community and many people were panicked. Events had to be canceled at the Rice Lake Middle School, businesses were placed in lockdown, and emergency responders were involved.
The Barron County District Attorney's Office will be recommending charges and the case is being actively investigated further.
