
Serious Scam Warning Issued To Wisconsin Residents
If you live in Wisconsin, you now have another scam you need to be on the lookout for, as if there weren't enough scams going around already.
Sadly, scams are common these days, from internet scams to scam phone calls. There doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

Now, there's another one Wisconsinites might need to be aware of, reported by Wisconsin Public Service on Facebook Wednesday (April 30th).
According to their post, their customers are being targeted by scammers in a scam that has people panicking if they don't pay up.

So how does this scam work? Just like so many others, with scammers creating a sense of panic and urgency by telling the person on the receiving end that they must pay up or something bad will happen.

In this instance, that something bad is their service being disconnected if they don't pay an immediate fine. Obviously, this is a scam, with Wisconsin Public Service staff reminding everyone they don't do business this way.
How This Scam Works
WPS says that residential customers, along with businesses and religious organizations, have received these scam calls. Of course, these scammers ask for banking information so that you can make the 'payment' you owe, which leads to them stealing your money and identity.

If you get a call like this and aren't sure if it is a scam, hang up and call WPS directly. It's also a good idea to learn which types of payment they do accept so you don't fall for a scam like this.
Scammers are getting so good that I have almost come close to falling for a few of them at times. I always just hang up or ignore it and tell myself if it is really important and not a scam, someone will get in contact with me again.
