I had some friends from out of town visit me this weekend. One of them who is from Missouri had never been out to Park Point, so I took him across the aerial lift bridge and down to the end of park point. While there, I noticed what looked like a parachute off in the distance. That's when I saw someone flying about 3 feet off the ground across the St. Louis River Harbor.

I wanted to get a closer look, so I pulled into the parking area just off Park Point Playground. There was a group of half a dozen people vibing to some tunes, all bundled up and carrying some gear.

They were cheering on their friend who was flying across the bay with their skis and literally flying at times, going a few feet up in the air and then coming down, landing on their skis. It was really fun to see! I snapped some photos and caught a couple of action shots while they were in the air.

The wind was gusting up to 20 mph, and I would guess that they were going about that fast. It was hard to see what the adventurous person looked like because they were bundled up from head to toe. That's got to be cold.

I'm guessing that you'd have to be in pretty good shape to do this sport, especially in the legs.

The parasail is attached with a harness and controls where they can maneuver the parasail. I'm sure it takes some practice to get the hang of it. It's something I'd love to try someday!

Keep an eye out for them next time you are down at Park Point. They do it in the summer with a board too!
