Doesn't it always seem that when you want or need mobile internet service the most, it's either very weak or completely unavailable? I've experienced this twice in the past month, and both times were when I was at a volleyball tournament with my daughter.

If you've ever been involved in a youth sports tournament, you know there can be a lot of downtime between games and it's handy to have your phone to get online and pass the time. I just happened to be in schools and areas where cell service was horrible, at least for my cellular provider, which was frustrating.

It can be equally frustrating when you experience a lack of cell coverage when you go to visit a popular tourist attraction. Those are the areas where you may need to get online to check for directions and information or share photos or even videos of what you're experiencing when you're there.

To help people prepare for such a situation, a study was done to determine which top tourist attractions in America happened to have the worst mobile internet service. The tourist attraction that earned this designation in Minnesota should come as no surprise.

Top U.S. Tourist Attractions With The Worst Mobile Internet Service

To conduct the study, the people at Holafly cross-referenced the ZIP codes of over 290,000 tourist attractions with the mobile download speed data by ZIP code from CoverageMap.com.

Next, they calculated the average download speed across the top three service providers for each ZIP code and ranked the attractions with the worst average mobile download speed overall, by state and by attraction type.

In the entire country, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming is the U.S. tourist attraction with the worst mobile internet, with an average download speed of 1.7 MB/s. This is likely because the area is protected from the erection of cell towers.

Within the category of amusement parks, Silver Dollar City in Missouri earned the top spot with an average internet speed is 17.6 MB/s.

The Minnesota Attraction With The Worst Mobile Internet Service

As for Minnesota, the tourist attraction that earned the overall top spot is also a place I would hope you never want to be staring at your phone because it possesses so much natural beauty.

Because of its remote location, it's not surprising to learn that the place with the worst mobile internet service is Gooseberry Falls State Park in Two Harbors.

I guess I could see wanting internet service if you wanted help identifying something you observed there or something of that nature, but otherwise, I'd just want to be in the moment. You can always take photos of your experience and share them with others after you leave and are in a place where the mobile internet service is better.
