Confiscated Hunting + Fishing Gear To Be Auctioned In Minnesota

Someone else's loss could be your gain, as the dates have been set for two online public auctions where a wide variety of hunting, fishing, and trapping equipment will be sold.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is holding public auctions to sell equipment they have confiscated following serious game and fish violations. Items available include shotguns, rifles, handguns, bows, tree stands, and more.

The DNR says that revenue from confiscated equipment auctions will go into the Game and Fish Fund, the DNR’s primary fund for delivering fish and wildlife management and law enforcement.

Two Online Auctions To Be Held This Year

The DNR has scheduled the online public auctions on Monday, August 26, and Monday, October 7.

A list of equipment to be auctioned will be available before each auction takes place at the Hiller Auction Service website. Items for the first auction will be posted before August 22.

Here are more key dates you need to know:

The bidding catalog for each auction will be available at the Hiller Auction Service website by Thursday, August 22, and Thursday, October 3. The catalog will include a written description and photos of each item.
An onsite inspection is available at Hiller Auction Service in Zimmerman, Minnesota on August 23 and October 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Online bidding for the auctions begins Friday, August 23 (first auction) and Friday, October 4 (second auction).
The auctions will begin closing at 5 p.m. on August 26 and October 7.

It's worth noting that all firearm buyers must pass a NICS background check before receiving any firearm. Also, all equipment will be sold as-is, including all defects or faults, known or unknown, and all sales are final. Neither auction will have a buyer fee, but Minnesota sales tax does apply at 7.375%.

Purchased items will not be shipped, buyers must pick them up at Hiller Auction Service, located at 10785 261st AVE NW in Zimmerman, Minnesota.

Load-out times are on Tuesday, August 27th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesday, August 28th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
