Minnesota Business Warns Customers Of Refund Scam
There are simply too many scams to keep track of these days. It seems like there is always another one popping up, especially in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I just learned of another while mindlessly scrolling on Facebook last night. This one would be easy to fall for, because it involves a refund. Who doesn't want that?

The scam was reported by Federated Rural Electric, which serves Jackson and Martin counties in Minnesota. They shared details of the scam on Facebook Tuesday (January 14th).

According to their post, a handful of their members have received a call. The caller ID says that it is from Rolling Town, Minnesota.
From there, the scammer tells the customer they were overcharged by $150 bucks and asks which credit card they want the money to be refunded on.
The business says they will automatically apply any overcharges to the customer's next electric bill. It's only a matter of time before other scammers catch on and do something similar in our area!

As always, never give out your credit card information over the phone. That is obviously what this scammer was trying to get and from there, would likely steal your banking information to use your money and identity.
My motto whenever I get a scam call is to just hang up. If there really is something urgent, I tell myself they will keep calling or try to get ahold of me another way. It works!
