You Won’t Believe Who The Largest Landowner In Minnesota Is
Interesting....very interesting! If you're like me, you've never thought about the fact that companies and people own this much land.
I stumbled across a list put together by World Population Review earlier this year. This list names the largest landowner in each state.
Like I said, I knew that people buy houses with a lot of land and that businesses buy acreage for their own purposes - but not this much!
I am surprised by the largest private landowner in Minnesota...
Why? Because it's a company based in a different state! Molphus Woodlands Group owns about 286,000 acres in the state of Minnesota.

Instead, the company is based in Ridgeland, Mississippi! They buy, sell and lease land all over the country. They call themselves one of the oldest timber-related companies in the country.
However, they do have a Minnesota office. The office is located in International Falls. I guess this is a little Minnesota connection but it's still interesting they are located in a different state.

They also have offices in Alabama, Arkansas, New York and Texas, among others. According to the Minnesota DNR, about seventy-percent of lands in Minnesota are privately-owned.
Breaking that down even further, the Department Of Natural Resources itself manages about five-point-six million acres, making up another good portion of the land in the state. I have never paid much attention to things like this. It's pretty interesting!
