Family-Owned Wisconsin Cafe Named A Best Hidden Gem In America
Wherever you travel throughout America, there are the hot spots that every community raves about and the places that everybody makes it a point to visit. These could be restaurants, parks, museums, nightclubs, etc.
When I travel, I ask where the most popular places are so that I don't miss out, but there are other places I investigate because they feel a little more secretive and are often even better than the most popular hot spots.
I ask locals, "What place in this city do you think is its best hidden gem?" Hidden gems are places that locals cherish, but they often remain undiscovered by tourists simply because they lack widespread recognition.
These are the places to visit. A recent study uncovered where the best hidden gems were in America, and a family-owned Wisconsin business hopefully won't stay hidden much longer.
The Best Hidden Gem In Wisconsin
To find America's best hidden gems, LoveFood read through countless numbers of genuine user reviews, awards, and accolades, while also incorporating the first-hand experience of its team.
In Wisconsin, the best hidden gem was found to be the Red Rooster Café, located at 158 High Street in Mineral Point. The Red Rooster Café is a family-owned café, now in its third generation that specializes in cornish fare.
Cornish fare refers to the traditional food of Cornwall, England, most notably including the famous Cornish pasty, a pastry typically filled with beef, potato, swede, and onion.

For over 50 years, the Red Rooster Café has been serving an amazing homemade cornish pasty, along with bread pudding, figgy hobbin, saffron bread, tea biscuits, and a lot more.
The team at FoodLove says the Red Rooster Café has a pleasingly nostalgic interior, with jaunty floral wallpaper, and a changing selection of delicious food specials. They note that baking is where it shines and they were impressed with the counter that is full of homemade tarts and pies.
The Red Rooster Café takes pride in being open 7 days a week from 7 am to 3 pm.
