A new month is upon us and to Star Wars lovers everywhere, that means one thing: May the Fourth! The unofficial holiday may not be on the calendar but it is pretty much set in stone thanks to die-hard fans of the franchise and the fun play on words.

Some may celebrate by dressing up as Chewbacca or Luke Skywalker and others may have a movie marathon, lightsaber in hand. If you are a fan of the franchise but don't know how to celebrate this year, we have you and your family covered with a handful of fun events at the Duluth Public Library.

First and foremost, you can send your teen to the Duluth Public Library on May the Fourth for a fun Star Wars themed party. The party is for kids and teens at the main library, located along Superior Street in downtown Duluth. The party takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Partygoers are encouraged to come in costume. There will be Star Wars activities based on the movies.

The same night over at the West Duluth branch, there will be another party. This is a book bingo and costume party, which is of course Star Wars themed. Those celebrating are encouraged to dress in costume and there will be a Zenith Bookstore gift card drawing. This party takes place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Last but not least, if you can't make it to any of the fun Thursday events, you can celebrate later in the month or keep the celebration going all month long until another Star Wars event on Thursday, May 18th. This event will also be at the West Duluth branch.

The craft is do-it-yourself BB-8 earrings. You must register online prior to the event to secure your spot in line. There are two different times you can attend: from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. All materials are provided.

All I can say about this is......may the fourth be with you!
