Donations Pour In For Baby Porcupine Found Crying Without Her Mother Near Duluth
This adorable porcupine is receiving care after she was found in a tree near Duluth. Her mother was found dead on the road underneath the tree after being struck by a car. How horrible! The porcupette, (that's the actual word for baby porcupine), was brought to a local animal rehabilitation facility for care.
A homeowner found the porcupette in a sapling, crying. He was with his children, and because of that, he decided to try and save the porcupette and found Wildwoods.
Wildwoods Rehabilitation Center posted the story on social media looking for donations for a specific item: Esbilac. It's a powder formula replacement used for nursing animals. IT has prebiotics, probiotics, and other nutrients the porcupette needs. Within a very short period of time, Wildwoods thanked everyone for their donations and said they had enough.
They urged people who still wish to donate to purchase colostrum to help out fawns when they start to come in this spring. It's an important nutritional need that they have at the rehabilitation clinic. You can donate on their baby shower page. It's a registry where they put items needed online you can purchase directly through Amazon.
They are doing their best to not imprint on the porcupette. Their goal is not to have a wild animal get habituated to humans. They hope to return her to the wild once she grows more and is strong enough.
