Important Notice For Dog Owners – Do This Now Before July
The 4th of July is on its way. It's hard to believe we are just a couple of weeks away from Independence Day. And, it's also the time of year when people start celebrating a little prematurely.
Fireworks and the 4th of July go hand-in-hand, and this is the time of year when people start to test out their purchases. It's also one of the most dangerous times of year for dog owners.
Random Fireworks Mean Random Runaway Dogs
It's a lot easier to plan for scheduled fireworks from cities or events. But, those random bottle rockets going off at 1 am on a Tuesday night are another story. I'm sure you're well aware of the annoying weeknight explosions that happen in late June and (let's be honest) the rest of the summer.
Animal shelters see a surge of stray dogs and pets following the 4th of July. Fireworks scare the dogs, and they run off. Some dogs will jump fences, others will bolt through an open door or a window. However, they get loose, it is a big pro
blem for animal shelters.

Best Way To Find Your Lost Dog
The best way to reconnect with your lost dog is to have them microchipped. Keep an eye out for free micro-chipping events in your area. Sponsors usually cover the costs to help out the animal shelter.
When a stray animal is taken in, they first scan for a microchip. If they find one, they go to the database and can contact the owner.
Microchipping Is Cheap And Quick
It's an easy procedure. A tiny, grain-of-rice-sized microchip is inserted just beneath the skin of the nape of your pet's neck. In most cases, the procedure only costs $25. I'd say knowing your pet is microchipped is definitely worth it.
