Urgent Recall: Boar's Head Deli Meats Linked to Listeria Outbreak in 13 States

The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today that Boar's Head Provisions Co., Inc. is recalling all liverwurst products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Along with liverwurst, other deli meats produced on the same line are being recalled, totaling about 207,528 pounds of products.

These ready-to-eat items, including various types of ham, bologna, salami, and bacon, were produced between June 11 and July 17, 2024. The products in question bear specific sell-by dates and establishment number "EST. 12612" inside the USDA mark. See the full list of products being recalled and the label images below.

So far, 34 people across 13 states have fallen ill, with 33 hospitalizations and two deaths reported. FSIS, in coordination with the CDC and state health departments, is continuing the investigation.

Listeriosis, caused by consuming L. monocytogenes, can be serious, especially for pregnant individuals, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms range from fever and muscle aches to severe complications like miscarriages and life-threatening infections.

If you've purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Instead, discard them or return them to the store and thoroughly clean your refrigerator to avoid cross-contamination.
