Crews with the City of Superior will be repairing the road to a popular Twin Ports destination this up-coming week;  that work will result in a road closure for three days.

Wisconsin Point Road will be closed to traffic Monday, August 24 through Wednesday, August 26 in order to allow the Public Works department the opportunity to utilize Cold In-Place (CIR) recycling of asphalt in order to repair areas of the roadway.

What is CIR?

According to Todd Janigo, director of Public Works, “The CIR process mills and picks up 3” of existing asphalt/gravel, crushes and screens the material, injects foamed asphalt, places the mixture with a paver and then re-compacts the material.” This readies the road for City crews to lay a final overlay two weeks later after the material sets.

Final paving for the road is scheduled for September.
