Darrell Hammond is out.  Norm MacDonald is in.  But - the real Harlan Sanders is still dead.

KFC announced today that after a few short months of Darrel Hammond pretending to be the companies iconic spokesperson they're replacing him with another actor:  Norm MacDonald.

In the roll-out for the change, MacDonald makes mention of an "imposter" who's been pretending to be the real Colonel Sanders and how he's the real thing - not the other guy.

Huh?

Keeping in mind that this is all fiction to begin with - what part of this are consumers supposed to buy into?  Somehow a fictional actor who's portraying a man who's been deceased now for 35 years calling out a previous actor for being an imposter is a stretch to say the least.

In some ways it follows the companies marketing move a few years ago when  they changed their name from Kentucky Fried Chicken to simply KFC in an effort to coax customers into believing that the chicken they were eating wasn't somehow fried.

Overall, I like KFC's food product;  this is not at all an indictment of their brand.  I just don't understand their current marketing campaign.
