What Is The Superior Police Department Doing In The Wake Of The Newtown Tragedy? Rumors Spread About Potential Local Threats

The Superior Police Department wants to inform the public about their response to the recent elementary school tragedy in Newtown Connecticut. Additional resources will be present at the public school locations throughout the city to help provide a safe and secure environment. Additional patrols may be visible around the various campuses and additional uniformed officers may be present in some buildings.
The Superior Police Department says that their additional presence is not the result of any specific threat, but is designed to help foster a safe and secure environment as well as to serve as a deterrence to any criminal activity.
There have been reports of unsubstantiated rumors regarding potential violence or threats at the schools. While the Police take each rumor seriously, at this point none of them have been substantiated or determined to have any merit.
