While I'm not a fan of hotdishes myself - many people in the Northland are;  That's why they've become almost as synonymous as snow in our area.  Perhaps that's why Minnesota State legislators decided a few years ago to have a hotdish competition.  It seems like their challenge is a way to make them seem more like their constituents and less like the country club folks they usually rub elbows with.

The winner this year was Representative Betty McCollum from St. Paul.  Her Turkey, Sweet Potato, and Wild Rice Hotdish took top honors in the 5th annual Minnesota Congressional Hotdish Competition.

The recipe seems like it might be tasty.  Individually, I like turkey, I like sweet potatoes, and I like wild rice.  I noticed that the recipe also includes butter, cream, and garlic too.  Somehow I just can't get past the hotdish nature of it all.
