What Happened To Superior’s Time And Temperature Number? Decades-Old Source Is No More

It's the end of an era.

Back before smart phones brought an accurate clock that sets itself to everyone's pocket or purse, most people depended on more archaic sources for the correct time.  One of those sources was the time and temperature number.  Every community had one - and it was usually listed in the phone book  - although most folks just knew the number.

Superior's Time and Temperature number was 392-0123.  A recent call to the number gets you a recording stating that it's been disconnected.

I tried to do a little research into who maintained the number and who authorized the disconnection of this service - but - I came up short.

Does anyone know the story?  Did you use the service?  We'd like to know.
