What Are The Most-Popular Halloween Candies In Minnesota + Wisconsin?

It's that time of year again:  Halloween!  While I remember dressing up when I was really young, it seems like the celebration has grown over the years; sales figures back up the fact that Americans are spending more than ever on decorations, costumes, and candy.

Speaking of candy - have you ever wondered what types and brands come out on top as the most-popular in trick-or-treat bags?  In order to provide some insight, a bulk candy provider started compiling their sales data from across the United States to find out that answer.  Candystore.com reviewed the last 11 years worth of their candy shipping data to buyers all across the country; then, they compiled those results into an interactive map.

The results are sort of surprising.  It turns out that both Minnesota and Wisconsin have pretty different ideas of what makes a great trick-or-treat bag - at least according to their Top Three.  In Minnesota, Tootsie Roll Pops came out on top, followed by Skittles and Candy Corn.  Meanwhile over in Wisconsin, Butterfingers took the top of the list, followed by Starburst and then Hot Tamales.

What I found the most interesting is that both of our border states Top Three differ pretty widely from the United States top choices.  According to the statistics, here are the Top Ten candies all across the country:
