Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen recently landed a new gig playing in Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti's road band, and now fan-shot video footage of the young rocker's first performance with his new group has emerged online.

Van Halen landed the job suddenly when Tremonti's usual bassist, Brian Marshall, was unable to commit to his tour. Wolfgang's schedule with Van Halen is currently open while his father, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, recovers from his recent emergency surgery, so he was able to step in to the new gig with Tremonti, a longtime friend. According to our friends at Blabbermouth, the journeyman bassist played his first show with Tremonti on Tuesday night (Sept. 11) at Rock Junction in West Greenwich, Rhode Island.

The younger Van Halen has been accused of benefiting from nepotism in replacing Michael Anthony in Van Halen, but as the clips below demonstrate, he's more than capable of handling Tremonti's material, even with short notice. He took to his Twitter account to express his excitement after the concert, posting, "Well the show with my buds @MarkTremonti @IIEROCKII and @GWDrums was a blast! Thanks so much to everyone that showed up! NYC, here we come!"

Tremonti also seemed pleased, tweeting, "Thanks for such an incredible first show Rhode Island! We won't ever forget it...." The U.S. leg of Tremonti's tour wraps up on Oct. 7 in San Antonio, after which the band depart for a series of dates overseas.
