You have to show an I.D. to cash a check, enter Federal buildings, obtain airline tickets, see the doctor (usually), and even to get a library card.  So it does make me wonder why it's taken so long for states to require that voters show some form of identification in order to vote.

Recent changes to the state law in Wisconsin seek to rectify that oversight and protect the voting process.  For the first time ever, residents who head out to the polls in Superior, Douglas County, and the greater State of Wisconsin will need to show proof of who they are and their residency.

Because the changes are new, officials with the City of Superior are trying to get the word out in advance to alert voters to this requirement.  In most cases, your drivers license suffices as a legitimate form of identification.  However, there are other forms of acceptable identification for those who may not have a driver license.

Not sure if you have what you need?  Visit the Bring It Wisconsin website to verify your I.D. in advance of the election.  And if you're unsure of where you vote in the City of Superior, click here for a map and details.
