Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the NFC. Walsh went 4-for-4 on field goals in his NFL debut. Controversy has been circling him and the team since former kicker Ryan Longwell was cut.

When the Vikings drafted Walsh in the sixth round from Georgia, it started to spell the end for Longwell. He had a huge leg in college and was known for being accurate over the 50 yard line.

His 55-yarder sent the game into overtime. Walsh connected on a 38-yard game-winner in overtime; the kick held up as the Vikings were able to stop Jacksonville on its overtime possession.

The Vikings are 1-0 and face Rookie Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts next.
