Citing "overwhelming demand," Van Halen have added a pair of dates to their upcoming tour.

The new stops lengthen the band's stays in New York, where their newly scheduled Aug. 15 stop at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater adds a third concert in the area, and Los Angeles, where they've added an additional Hollywood Bowl show on Oct. 4.

As previously reported, the group's tour is scheduled to begin July 5 in Seattle, and continue through Oct. 4 with special guests the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band supporting all dates on the itinerary. These concerts mark Van Halen's return after their shows following the release of A Different Kind of Truth in 2012.

They've been warming up for the road with a handful of promotional appearances, including sets on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Ellen DeGeneres Show — a pre-tour run they'll continue May 17 with a performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, scheduled to air on ABC from 8-11PM ET.

Tickets for the newly added dates are scheduled to go on sale to the public May 18 through Ticketmaster, though American Express members will be able to order them as part of a special pre-sale starting May 13.

As the Van Halen News Desk notes, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen has been posting video clips from band rehearsals, and although this run is being billed as a greatest hits tour, it looks like there could be some deeper cuts in the set list: Some of the songs they've been playing include "Little Guitars," "Light Up the Sky," "Dirty Movies" and "In a Simple Rhyme."
