UMD men’s and women’s hockey teams helped to raised over $14,000 for cancer outreach programs over the weekend, as they wore special pink jerseys and autographed them after the game. Fans bid on their favorite player’s game worn jersey.  The men’s team raised $8, 375 and the women’s team raised $5,850. Goaltender Kayla Black’s jersey went for $1,000.  The men’s team played Michigan Tech and swept them on the weekend, 1-0 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday.

Freshman goaltender Matt McNeely got his first college shutout in the Friday victory. Then on Saturday night the Bulldogs set an  all-time attendance record at the rink, with 6,829 on hand, setting a new record.  Pretty good considering the students were not even at the game, they are still on winter break.

The UMD men are at Colorado College this weekend for two WCHA games.

The UMD women’s team hosted St. Cloud State last weekend and also swept them, 3-1 in game one and 8-2 in game two, the Bulldogs are on a six game unbeaten streak.  UMD will host Bemidji State this weekend at Amsoil Arena.
