With senior Chase Vogler graduating and heading to Europe to further his football career, the UMD Bulldogs were left with an inevitable question of who would fill his shoes. After competition between a few candidates, new coach Curt Wiese has announced his starter.

Redshirt freshman Drew Bauer will take the reigns of the Bulldogs offense this season, beating out junior Brent Jorgenson for the job.

Bauer hails from Inver Grove heights, where the 6' 2" 220 pound quarterback earned multiple awards with the Eagan High School football team. Along with awards including all-South Suburban Conference team honors and placement on the St. Paul Pioneer Press's all-state team, Bauer set an Eagan single-season record in his senior year with the team, collecting 7 100-yard rushing games and 16 touchdown passes.
