If traffic is slow up ahead at an intersection, look for a fire truck or signs telling you the firefighters are out collecting money for MDA. The nice part is all the money stays right in the Twin Ports to help kids and adults and their families living with MD and ALS.

The thing that they ask is just to be careful, firemen will be darting in and out of traffic. When you see the signs or the guys, don't stop right away, you will cause a wreck. They are asking you do it while you are stopped. If the light doesn't turn red while you are at the corner, maybe put over or turn around and pull up again. Have your money ready and they will take it as fast as they can.

If you have already given, do nothing, wave and smile. They don't want to pressure you.

So here are the corners in the Twin Ports the Firefighters will be collecting at:

  • BELKNAP AVENUE & TOWER AVENUE
  • 37TH STREET & TOWER AVENUE
  • 22ND AVENUE EAST & EAST 2ND STREET
  • LAKE AVENUE & RAILROAD STREET
  • CENTRAL ENTRANCE & ARLINGTON AVENUE
  • GRAND AVENUE & CENTRAL AVENUE
  • WOODLAND AVENUE & ARROWHEAD AVENUE
  • IN GARY
  • IN LAKESIDE
