The Sam Phillips Sun Records Story [Video]

I've been involved heavily in rock n roll since I was nine. Over the years I've either met or interviewed thousands of artists. If I could've interviewed anybody in this world, it would've been Sam Phillips, but I couldn't get to him in time, and I kick myself everyday for that. Sam was born on this day 1/5/23.

To me, Sam Phillips was the absolute ultimate..and always will be. His ability to take a raw talent and make him a star is unmatched. Sam recorded people who otherwise would never have had a chance. Sam opened his doors to everyone, regardless of race. He signed artists others had given up on like Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash, and helped them on their way to stardom.

I have no doubt that fellow artists, musicians, dj's and those who simply enjoy listening to rock n roll, blues, rockabilly, and gospel owe a debt to Sam we'll never be able to repay. I put myself at the top of that list. Thank you Sam.
