Guns N’ Roses and Def Leppard Members Guest on New Professionals Album

Automaton Records

Sex Pistols offshoot the Professionals will release a new album later this month.

The record, What in the World, is due on Oct. 27 and includes guest appearances by Guns N’ Roses‘ Duff McKagan, Phil Collen of Def Leppard, Mick Jones of the Clash and the Cult‘s Billy Duffy.

The Professionals were formed in 1979 by the Sex Pistols’ drummer, Paul Cook, and guitarist, Steve Jones. Their original run lasted three years. Cook reactivated the band earlier this year with Paul Myers and Tom Spencer. Jones now lives in the U.S. and didn’t want to return to the band, but he’s given the new lineup his blessing and even plays on three tracks on the new album.

“We’re not breaking any musical boundaries – we’re doing what we do best, from the heart, with energy and integrity,” the band notes in a press statement. “In the studio, we put the songs down as a three piece, but what we needed was a second guitarist’s mind, to come from another angle. Cookie dusted off his punk rock address book and made a few calls. All the guests added their own unique magic.”

The 10-track album includes “Going, Going, Gone,” a tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister and David Bowie. You can see the full track listing, along with the guest stars, below.

The Professionals will play a launch show at the Garage in London on Oct 28. “We’re buzzing about the album and can’t wait to spread the buzz,” they said. “Of course, there’ll be old stuff played too. We don’t cover Pistols stuff, apart from ‘Silly Thing,’ but as the gig’s 40 years to the day from Never Mind the Bollocks being released, we might just add a cover or two.”
