Your movie watching experience has just gotten a major upgrade, The Duluth Cinema, owned by Marcus Theatres, located at the DECC has just completed its extensive overhaul of the old Imax location and has converted that space into an ultra modern movie lovers paradise.

The biggest thing they added was a new 'UltraScreen', this 65-foot-wide, three-and-a-half story tall screen uses the latest in digital projection technology to give you the clearest, more colorful picture to date, add to that the 39,000 watt JBL sound system and your movies will not only look their best but sound unbelievable.

The new auditorium has also been upgraded with all new memory foam chairs and you'll now have the ability to reserve seats when you buy your tickets ahead of time. Tickets for the 'UltraScreen' experience will be an additional $2.

But for me the coolest addition to the auditorium is the new D-BOX seating, this seating actually moves to motion code that is customized for each frame of the movie, so when a car crashes or drives over bumps on a road, you feel that, pretty cool stuff!

The motion is only used in a movie when it makes sense and enhances the experience, so only about 30-40% of an average movie would have motion associated with it. Even with that, Guy Marcoux, Vice President of D-BOX, told me it takes about 300-500 hours to code each movie.

All the D-BOX seats are reserved and cost an additional $8 for the added motion experience, the first movie to feature this technology at the Duluth Cinema will be "The Amazing Spider-Man" followed by "The Dark Knight Rises".

And that's not all, Marcus Theatres also added the new 'Take Five Lounge' to the Duluth Cinema, furnished with tables and leather chairs and even some couches, the lounge offers a full selection of beer, wine and cocktails along with appetizers, pizza and various finger foods.

Other little enhancements include a new box office, new entrance and new self serve soda stations so you don't have to wait behind the dude who wants nachos and popcorn just to get a quick refill.
