A couple of years ago I wrote to the Wounded Warriors organization in Washington D.C. to get a reserved parking sign that was legal to replace our handicapped sign.
Registration for the 5th annual ride will begin at 10:30 AM again this year at the Cromwell Pavillion where it was last year with the ride leaving at noon.
Handicapped parking signs allow people who need it, a closer parking spot to a store or business. When I heard that Vets who have problems but don't qualify for a handicapped sticker or license plate, I was a little angry. Then I heard Wounded Warriors created a purple sign that you could put in place of your handicapped sign to allow a space for a Vet.
When you see a handicapped parking sign, you know that is reserved for a senior person, someone with a handicap or someone that had a physical reason they need to park close. Many wounded veterans need that same courtesy and sometimes can't get it.
