We take radio pretty much for granted don't we. In the car, in the workplace, and at home. Turn it on and it instantly provide you with music, sports, news, and weather. Radio started to come into it's own back in the 20's, as radio technology became more accessible to all. Where I live, in Wisconsin, farm and weather reports broadcast on the radio were a life saver to rural communities, especially farmers. The explosive growth of radio was evident by 1940, where nine out of ten Wisconsin homes had at least one radio.

Now was the time for Eric Clapton to record some new music. He was clean, and felt better than he had in years. After meeting with his manager, it was decided recording an album in Florida would be the next project.

Having recently been through rehab, and a long self imposed exile, Eric seemed to be having some difficulty in the recording studio. He felt perhaps the album should be delayed until he got his wings back so to speak.

I'd like to tell you a story, but first, let me ask you a question. Where can teenagers go around here to just hang out? The street corner or the Mall is about it right? It didn't used to be that way. Back in the day, a man (I'll call him Cat) got the idea of having a place the teenagers could hang out and listen to some live music. He called it a Teenage Club, and if you were thirteen to eighteen, you could come out and be entertained by live bands, maybe have a burger and coke as no alcohol was available. He called the place "The Hideaway." Kids came in throngs, and every Friday and Saturday nite, the Hideaway would have four hundred or more kids.
