January 18, 2013 The lack of good quality snow has led the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation to cancel the BirkieTour that was scheduled for this Saturday, January 19th. That snow deficit has led to poor trail conditions and skier safety concerns. Even though additional snow is in the forecast for the next day, that new snow would be quickly sheared off - especially on downhills - exposing the solid ice trail base and creating hazardous ski conditions.

Additional resources will be present at the public school locations throughout the city to help provide a safe and secure environment. Additional patrols may be visible around the various campuses and additional uniformed officers may be present in some buildings.
