A couple of years ago, I took food out of my oven that I had baked in a glass pan, set it on a dry cutting board with a hot pad underneath it, and then watched in horror as it shattered into a million pieces of hot flying glass. The CDC reports children are four times more likely to be hit by cars on October 31 than on any other day of the year — probably not terribly surprising, given the increase in the number of kids who are out and about on Halloween.
