You can't stop the changing seasons in Minnesota.  As winter gets ready to show itself to the Northland, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is pausing the highway resurfacing project near Ely for the season.

Drivers who use Highway 1 between Ely and Highway 61 will encounter a 37-mile detour between Isabella and Finland, beginning Monday August 19.  The detour is required as contractors replace culverts in Murphy City.  The project will last approximately four days...

Wanted:  Someone to take over drivers license services in Ely.  According to our partners at the Northlands Newscenter, Saint Louis County has decided to suspend their operations in the city near the Boundary Waters - choosing to look for bids from the private sector.

The project that was scheduled to start on May 20th just south of Ely has been postponed.  Workers had hoped to start a striping and landscaping project that would have put the finishing touches on a job that started last year.
