State officials have battled the Gypsy Moth this summer with a series of aerial sprays in targeted areas. The City of Superior and Douglas County have fallen into that spray area. The sprays are almost done for the season, but will make one more pass over the northland
It's finally coming closer to our area; The Gypsy Moth Aerial Spraying program being conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection agency will affect residents in Douglas County on June 17th
Parts of Superior and Douglas County will be treated by aerial spraying to slow the spread of the Gypsy Moth. The Gypsy Moth is an invasive, leaf-eating insect than can feed on most of the types of trees and shrubs that are found in North America.
Spring time means melting snow and rising waters. While local officials aren't expecting flooding like the Northland saw last year, the usual round of road closures has started - due to soggy road conditions and standing water.
