It looks like another round of scams are making their way around the Twin Ports area - this time in connection to Superior Water, Light and Power - the utility that serves the Superior area.

Customers have been receiving phone calls from someone who claims to be from SWL&P - demanding immediate payment on their utility bill.  The person on the other end identifies themselves as being with the utility company and threatens to turn off the electricity if immediate payment via a credit card or check card isn't made.

Of course these calls are from a criminal who is attempting to scam someone.  Specifically, the caller can't provide the physical address of SWL&P and often doesn't even get the name right - referring to it as "Superior Light and Water".

SWL&P does not call customers to demand immediate payment.  Their website includes statements of their policies and procedures that can offer assistance.
