If you see water coming out of fire hydrants in the East End of Superior the next few weeks, don't panic; officials with Superior Water Light and Power are performing an annual hydrant flushing routine in certain areas and neighborhoods of the city.

According to their social media, Superior Water Light and Power will commence work at 18th Avenue east and east 3rd Street to Belknap, and then follow suit along the same route on 4th Street, 5th Street, 6th Street, 7th Street - following the same route - 18th Avenue to Belknap.

Superior Water Light and Power is alerting homeowners in the affected area that they might notice discoloration in their water during the time that the hydrants are being flushed due to the previously-settled mineral deposits and particles in the water main being disturbed.  SWL&P assures customers that there ins't cause for alarm with the discoloration - and that the water is safe to drink.
