If you've ever toyed with the idea of becoming a police officer now may be your chance. Registration is now open for the thirteenth annual Superior Police Department’s citizen police academy. The free nine-session program starts Wednesday, September 17, and spans eight weeks. During the series of classes, police officers and detectives teach citizens information about a number of different law enforcement topics and those in attendance will also gain hands-on class experience in some areas of police work.

If you're already working a day job, the sessions fits right into your schedule. Each session runs from 6 pm to 10 pm on Wednesdays, with one course also taking place on a Saturday morning during the program. In order to participate, an application must be completed and a basic background check must be passed. The program is limited to 25 participants, with an application deadline of September 5.

Applications for the citizen’s police academy are available online via the City of Superior’s website, or in person at the Superior Police Department reception desk. Questions or requests for an application to be mailed can be handled by calling (715) 395-7450. Give it a shot, maybe your dream will come true!
