The law is the law until it changes.  For Minnesota liquor sales, there is a change coming - to allow off-sale on Sundays;  that change won't take effect until July.  Yesterday - in advance of that change, a Minneapolis liquor store decided to open for business anyway.  Those open doors and the sales they racked up will result in a costly penalty for the business.

According to news reports, Surdyk's Liquor Store will see a $2,000 fine for the move along with a 30-day suspension.  The kicker:  The suspension will begin on the first day of the new state law, allowing their competition to be open on the last day of the weekend.
