A $19-million Government Services Center project will get underway with a large celebration.  Officials with St. Louis County will break ground for the building in Virginia on Thursday, May 10 at 10:30 AM.  Representatives from the county, Quad Cities, contractors, and other community partners will meet in the parking lot across from the building it's replacing - the Northland Office Building:  307 1st Street South in Virginia.

Once complete,  the new facility will be a much-needed upgrade for the county services in northern St. Louis County.  As one of the largest counties in the country, St. Louis County has multiple geographic locations for its headquarters - to better serve the residents and homeowners.

The new building will be two-stories tall, encompassing 63,000 square feet.  More than 180 employees from ten different departments will call the new building their home office.

Work is expected to get underway right after the groundbreaking with an anticipated opening date sometime in the fall of 2019.
