It appears that officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation have finally heard the cries from motorists that regularly travel Highway 210 between Carlton and Aitkin County.  The state road agency has announced plans to raise the speed limit.

As soon as signage appears, drivers will be able to drive 60 MPH on the stretch of Highway 210 that runs from I-35 west to the junction of Highway 169.  Drivers have long stated that that particular stretch of roadway was prime for an increase in the speed limit due to its (relatively) straight lines and its remoteness.

The new speed limit will match the 60 MPH designation that has already appeared to the west of this area;  Much of Highway 210 west of the Highway 169 junction has already been raised to 60 MPH.
