Southbound I35 To Reopen December 11

Here's some good news for Twin Ports drivers:  the southbound lanes of I35 are set to reopen on Wednesday, December 11.

Repairs to the pilings on Pier 32 beneath southbound I-35 have been made and MnDOT will reopen the southbound lanes between Lake Avenue and 21st Avenue West about mid-morning, Wednesday, Dec. 11.

The southbound lanes have been closed since November 18 when crews discovered deteriorated pilings on Pier 32.

The “strong back system” which was used to stabilize the bridge while the repair work was being done is being dismantled today and will be removed tomorrow. Then MnDOT Maintenance crews will plow the closed section, do final clean-up work and open the southbound lanes.
