Slim Whitman Passes Away At 90

Slim Whitman has passed away at the age of 90 in Florida - due to heart complications.  A country music artist who scored 37 hits on Billboards Country Singles chart - most of them in the 1950's and early 60s, Whitman was also an early influence on rock music.

Perhaps the most iconic vision of Slim Whitman that people of a certain age will remember is his TV ads for the album "All My Best" - which flooded the airwaves in the late 1970's and early 1980's;  Whitman's album sparked the TV-album craze.
