Joel Potter lives in Wisconsin, but came from Minnesota and never forgets the history of watching North Stars games on TV and the old Met Center. Joel has started a petition to get back the old name and history of the Minnesota North Stars from the Dallas Stars and wants your help. Here's what he had to say:

The NHL was stolen from the State of Hockey by Norm Green in 1993 when he moved the Minnesota North Stars to Dallas, Texas. With him, he took the team name, logo, and history.

With so many cities either getting to keep the team name or history of their former teams, it is time the State of Hockey get the North Stars name back, the history of the franchise back through 1993 when the team left for Dallas, the old logo back (the N with the star above it), and the banners of the retired players back (Goldsworthy, Masterton, and Broten).

The NHL saw first hand what love Minnesota had for OUR North Stars during the Stadium Series weekend. It is time to for the NHL to give us back what is rightfully ours. Dallas can have the Stars from 1993 on. Before that, the history belongs to the State of Minnesota and the now Wild franchise.

That is from Change.org, and you can sign the petition there and even leave a comment. Do the MN Wild deserve getting back all the banners and history of what the North Stars accomplished? The Dallas Stars own the franchise so it is their history, but really, doesn't it look funny, Minnesota banners hanging in Dallas. If you want the case to be heard, Joel is collection money to make it possible too.
