Recently we were invited to our friends, Dave and Kathy for a BBQ.  When I asked what I should bring, they said dessert because they had the rest of the meal covered.  We grilled shish kebabs and they were delicious!  There are several reasons you should serve shish kebabs if you're having guests over for a BBQ.  Now, Davey isn't going to like to hear this, but he's a bit picky about what he eats. Likes meat, no pasta, nothing green, you know....like that.  His wife Kathy, she's a vegetarian, but a very accommodating one.  Guess who made who go into the butcher shop to get the tenderloin, chicken and shrimp for the BBQ?  God bless that woman!

That's one reason why serving shish kebab is a great idea.  Your guests can customize their skewers to their liking.  No surprise that Dave made mostly meat skewers and Kathy the vegetarian made all veggie skewers.  Homie and I did a variety of skewers.

Another reason is that you can marinate the meat and shrimp, precook the potatoes (she used fingerlings) and have everything ready when the guests arrive (more time with your guests).

A little advice from Kathy.  If you're using wooden skewers be sure to soak them in water for at least an hour before you add the veggies and meat.  They won't get charred when you have them on the grill if you've soaked them.

She provided quite the variety of choices, grape tomatoes, corn on the cob, zucchini, mushrooms, onion, green and red peppers fingerling potatoes and marinated tenderloin,  chicken and shrimp.

Step out of your bubble and do something different with your family or guests.  Get out of the burger, steak and grilled chicken run and try something fun and yummy.
