I remember back in the day when I played baseball. Wade Stadium was like playing in the Metrodome or in my day Met Stadium. It was the biggest field in the city and it was where the Duluth Dukes played.

I was able to play there when I was in junior high. I was a catcher and caught two pitchers at that field, I caught maybe 8 games there but the two pitchers were Eric Diver, who had the best curve ball I had ever seen. The other guy was Brian Anderson. Brian had some junk he could throw, but the day I caught him at Wade when he had a double digit strikeout day, he only had his fast ball. That day, he just threw it hard, and it was working.

Over the course of he game I could see it was all about placement, not style. He just threw it hard to a certain place, and I remember my hand hurting a little over stretch of the night. Brian was able to put the ball anywhere he wanted to, and just fire it hard.

My hand was swelled the next day and I couldn't move my fingers for a couple of days.

Everyone has some memories of Wade Stadium, whether it's playing in it or going to it. It's a Duluth landmard and now they are giving it a facelift. Watch as the field and stadium are fixed.
