A school bus driver in Connecticut is facing serious charges after surveillance videos captured her sending over 1,000 text messages while driving, according to reports.

47-year-old Evelyn Guzman, of Stratford, turned herself in and was charged with risk of injury to a minor and second-degree reckless endangerment, according to newspaperThe Hartford Courant.

Police made the arrest after a 10-month investigation that stemmed from an assault complaint regarding the school bus monitor, Guzman's daughter Jennifer Davila.

Deputy Police Chief Michael Harry told the Courant that officers received a call from the parents of a passenger on Guzman's bus, a 9-year-old autistic girl, claiming her daughter repeatedly came home with bruises on her hands and arms.

Davila was eventually charged in August with assaulting the girl, according to the paper.

According to the investigation, Guzman sent and received a total of 1,068 texts between April and May 2010.
