As previously reported, Arlington Avenue is about to get some major work performed on it.  Nothing about the scope of the project has changed - but - scheduling with the contractor has shifted the dates that it will affect drivers.  In fact, the project timeline will flip the timeline on  the two different segments involved.

Here are the updated details:

August 24 will be the date that the segment of Arlington between Central Entrance and Arrowhead Road will be closed.  This closure is expected to last 15 days.

Mid-September will mark  the closure for Arlington between Trinity Road and Central Entrance.  This closure is also expected to last 15 days.

In order to minimize the inconvenience to people who use Arlington, segments of the road will be completely closed to allow the work to progress more quickly.

Total cost of the project is estimated at $2.6 million, with $500,000 of the funding coming from Transportation Sales Tax revenue. The project originally was scheduled for next year, however, by using sales tax revenue as a match for federal funding, the County was able to accelerate the project and complete it this year. The work should be done in mid to late October.
